H.H. 17th Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje in London
Bringing his universal message of peace, compassion and loving kindness to all, as part of his 2012 European tour, H.H. Karmapa is coming to London to meet his students and to teach. The focus this year will be on teachings to support wellbeing in the modern world, highlighting the value of compassion and non-material wealth.
A rare Buddhist empowerment of the Buddha of Wealth and Prosperity (Tibetan: Dzambhala) has been kindly offered by H.H. Karmapa. The empowerment will be given to those wishing to start the Buddhist path. Because Buddhist refuge is also necessary to become a Buddhist practitioner, refuge will also be given in connection with the empowerment.
The much-loved Tibetan master Lama Jigme Rinpoche will also give teachings on how to practice Buddhism in daily life. Such teachings are very important for lay practitioners, who integrate Buddhist practice with work and family responsibilities.
H.H. 17th Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje is the head of the Karma Kagyu lineage, one of the four main schools of Tibetan Buddhism, which goes back in an unbroken transmission lineage for over nine hundred years. This will be the fourth time that he has visited London. His teachings in London are part of a 2012 tour of Buddhist meditation centres in the UK and Europe.
His teachings, which are suitable for all, will show how the qualities of compassion and loving kindness are fundamental for a happy life and a successful Buddhist meditation practice. In Buddhism, enlightened love has four aspects: the wish for all to be happy, for them to be free of suffering, to rejoice in the happiness of others, and for this to apply to everyone equally.
Lama Jigme Rinpoche is the representative of H.H. Karmapa in Europe, and accompanied him on his historic first visit to London in 2005.
