Q: Where can I sleep during the event?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot provide organised accommodation even for students of H.H. Karmapa arriving from abroad. Therefore, we strongly advise everyone to book a hotel or hostel as soon as possible. Please find more information about that here.

Q: Will the teachings be translated?
A: All teachings will be given in English. We will have Polish, German, Russian and Spanish translations, however, this might be subject to change due to the availability of translators and public demand. To help us plan ahead, please specify your translation preference on the registration form.
There will be no radio transmission. Translation will be available digitally and WiFi will be provided. Please bring your own headphones.

Q: Can I pay by card at the event?
A: Yes, you can pay by card or in cash (pound sterling only £) both at the cafe and the dharma shop.

Q: What can I bring to the gompa?
A: Please bring your own cushion. You may bring a small bag and your water bottle. Backpacks and any luggage will have to remain in the storage tent.

Q: How do I get to/from the airport to the city?
A: For transfer information and journey times to and from London’s major airports, see the websites for Heathrow Airport, Stansted Airport, Gatwick Airport and Luton Airport.

For buying train tickets, use the Trainline app, for coach tickets please check the National Express app or website.

Q: What’s the best way for travelling around London and to the event?
A: The Beaufoy is easily accessible by buses and the tube (underground).

The nearest stations are Kennington and Vauxhall. You need an Oyster card or a contactless credit or debit card/ phone Wallet / Apple Watch Wallet in order to pay for using public transport. No cash is accepted anywhere on London public transport.

Q: I’ll be travelling by car. Can I park at the Beaufoy?
A: No, it will not be possible to park your car on the Beaufoy premises before, during and after the course with Karmapa (4 – 22 July 2024).
Please note, the Buddhist centre is located in the Congestion Charge zone and in the ULEZ  (Ultra Low Emission Zone).
